Krav Maga seminar
Together with some friends who also train in Krav Maga we attended a Krav Maga seminar yesterday. The seminar was held at the Willem Lodewijk van Nassaukazerne, a military base with the largest training village in Europe. The village is called Marnehuizen and consists of more than 120 objects including residences, a bank, an underground sewer and more.
The seminar started at 10 o'clock with a brief overview of what we were going to do that day. After everyone had changed into their training gear we ran to the training village, where we did some more warming up before being divided into 2 groups of 40 people. One group was going to train defending against different chokes, and the second group (which I was in) was going to defend against attacks with a knife or gun. We trained for about an hour with the weapons and then another hour with the different choke holds.
We then enjoyed a great lunch and got some details on the final part of the seminar; using what we had practiced in real life situations. We were going to run through the village by ourselves, following a course the instructors had set out. During the course we encountered the following situations:
- Walking through an office building someone stands behind you and puts a gun to your head
- It is dark and noisy in a bus filled with hooligans, suddenly one off them pulls a knive on you
- You are sitting at the bar when someone starts pushing you around
- You are giving directions to an old couple when someone puts you in a headlock
We also had to run through the sewer for a hundred meters or so, which concluded the course. And after running getting back to the military base the seminar came to an end. It was very interesting, I learned a lot and had a great time. I will add a link to the photos as soon as it is available.
